TA52 Ultra-Flexi Split-Sole Tap Shoes • Streamlined Profile
If you love the freedom of a jazz shoe but still want the sound of tap, the So Danca TA52 Ultra-Flexi Split-Sole Tap Shoes bring the two worlds beautifully close. Soft, streamlined and incredibly easy to move in, they allow the foot to point, flex and articulate without the resistance of a traditional full sole.
The slip-on shape feels light and uncomplicated, while stretch neoprene helps the shoe hug the arch without laces or straps. Available in Black and Caramel, the TA52 is a distinctive choice for experienced dancers who want their tap shoes to follow the natural shape and movement of the foot.
So Danca TA52 Split-Sole Tap Shoes – Personality
Slip-On Simplicity • Sculpted Arch • Black or Caramel • Streamlined Profile
The Tap Shoe That Moves Like a Jazz Shoe
Low-profile, fluid and refreshingly modern, the TA52 leaves behind the traditional Oxford shape in favour of a sleek slip-on silhouette. Black creates a clean, understated line for contemporary choreography and stagewear, while Caramel blends more softly against the leg for musical theatre, jazz-influenced routines and lighter costumes.
So Danca TA52 Tap Shoes – Design & Performance
The TA52 combines a soft genuine leather upper with stretch neoprene panels through the sides and beneath the arch. This flexible combination allows the shoe to adapt closely around the foot, creating a smooth, glove-like fit without laces, buckles or external straps.
Its ultra-flexible split sole leaves the central arch free to move, making it easier to point the foot, articulate through the forefoot and create a more sculpted line. Unlike a structured full-sole tap shoe, the TA52 offers very little resistance beneath the arch and is therefore best suited to dancers who have already developed sufficient foot strength and control.
A reinforced hard toe box provides a firmer platform for advanced skills such as toe stands, while the low 1-inch heel keeps the overall profile balanced and close to the floor. Factory-attached metal toe and heel taps produce a crisp, bright response without adding the weight or tonal depth of a professional double-sole shoe.

Dance World Notes
For Dancers Who Want Less Shoe Beneath the Arch
Why It Works: The TA52 removes the rigid middle section found in a full-sole tap shoe, allowing the leather and neoprene upper to follow the foot more closely through pointing, flexing and quick directional changes.
Sound Character: Its fitted taps create a crisp, bright sound with a lighter quality than a heavy Oxford or double-sole professional shoe. The focus is on responsiveness and articulation rather than powerful tonal depth.
Training Value: This is not designed as a first tap shoe. The split sole offers very little resistance beneath the arch, so dancers need established foot strength, ankle control and a secure understanding of weight placement.
Toe-Stand Potential: The hard toe box provides the firmer platform needed for toe stands and related advanced skills. These movements should always be introduced and supervised by an experienced tap teacher.
Dance World Tip: The TA52 should hug the foot closely, particularly around the heel and arch. If the neoprene looks loose or the heel lifts, try a smaller size rather than relying on the stretch panels to hold an oversized shoe.
